How to Help
York Fighting Coronavirus Together is run by local people for the community of York to ensure you have access to the information you need about coronavirus.
Our aim is to improve wellbeing and create a safer place for everyone, through local efforts that enable individuals and communities to identify needs arising from coronavirus and respond by accessing or providing support in and around York.
You can make a one-off donation or set up a regular payment through CAF Donate.
£5 = If every YFCT Facebook member donated £5 we could fulfil our mission AND donate £1000 to every York foodbank
£20 = 2000 flyers delivered to local people or 1 month’s insurance
£50 = An entire month’s running costs; twenty people donating this would pay for flyers to a third of York
Other = The total cost of YFCT will be about £1,000 for the entire year – anything raised above this would be donated wisely, e.g. foodbanks or the Two Ridings Foundation.
Donating through Gift Aid means YFCT can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give, it won’t cost you any extra. All you need to do is to make a Gift Aid declaration by selecting ‘Gift Aid’ when you donate to YFCT online.
Have you some time to spare? Would you like to become involved? Volunteers are a vital part of our organisation and at the heart of what we do.
Along with our main page, York Fighting Coronavirus Together – YFCT, we have 24 local pages which are managed by a number of volunteers. Could you help by become a content or comment moderator for one or more of the local groups?
Content Moderators: Responsible for content; share from the FB admin group into each group and manage the timing and content including any user posts in pending posts to make sure that we don’t have more than one post per hour or two and that it’s all well balanced.
Comment Moderators: Checking in a couple of times per day and making sure that nothing is wrong and removing comments or content as necessary i.e. no spam, dangerous/offensive content, inappropriate/offensive comments or arguments.
Become a Trustee
We are currently seeking new members to join YFCT’s Board of Trustees.
What is a trustee?
Charity trustees play a key part in making sure that York Fighting Coronavirus Together is run in the interests of the people it is there to support.
Our vision for the York area is improved wellbeing and a safer place for everyone, through local efforts that enable individuals and communities to identify needs arising from coronavirus and respond by accessing or providing support.
The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the organisations aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
